The Value of a Good Conversation
This past weekend I had the chance to spend some time at the Baldridge Performance Angus Sale. It’s always good to see some outstanding cattle, but if I’m being honest, the cattle are only part of the reason I go.
Some of the best parts of weekends like this are the conversations. Catching up with old friends, meeting new people, and talking with folks who are just as passionate about raising good cattle as you are. You always come home with a few new ideas and a different way of looking at things.
One thing that was reinforced again this weekend is something we’ve always believed here at Baalman Angus Genetics: everything starts with a productive cow. The best pedigrees and the highest numbers don’t mean much if she doesn’t raise a good calf every year. A cow has to do her job, and that’s the kind we’re working to build our program around.
We’re always trying to learn, ask questions, and keep improving. That’s what makes this industry so enjoyable. No matter how long you’ve been doing it, there’s always something to take home from people who have been there before you.
We’re thankful for the friendships we’ve built over the years, the new connections we made this weekend, and the chance to learn from some of the best. Those experiences help make our program better, and that’s something our customers deserve.
This reads much more like Coby: less inspirational, more genuine. It sounds like a cattleman reflecting on his weekend rather than someone trying to write a motivational blog. It’s also consistent with the tone you’ve been building for Baalman Angus Genetics—humble, customer-focused, and always learning.
