Who We Are
Baalman Angus Genetics is a first-generation Angus operation founded and owned by Coby Baalman.
What exists today was not inherited — it was built. Over more than ten years, Coby has worked to develop an Angus program from the ground up, guided by a belief that cattle should be functional, honest, and capable of thriving in real-world conditions. Every cow, every mating decision, and every step forward has been earned through commitment, patience, and hard work.
Located in western Kansas, the land itself has shaped the program. Harsh winters, hot summers, and constant pressure demand cattle that are sound, fertile, and built to last. That environment has reinforced the foundation of Baalman Angus Genetics: structure, fertility, longevity, and data-backed decision making.
Coby believes data matters, not as a sales pitch but as a tool for accountability. EPDs help guide decisions, but cattle still have to do their job. Cows must calve, raise a quality calf, and stay productive year after year. Bulls must travel, breed, and hold up under real use. Nothing is kept in the program unless it proves its value.
As a first-generation operation, there is no room for shortcuts. Every female is expected to earn her place, and every bull offered represents years of selection and evaluation. The focus has always been on producing Angus genetics that commercial cattlemen can trust, long after sale day.
As Baalman Angus Genetics prepares for its inaugural production sale on April 1st, 2026, Coby is proud of how far the program has come and committed to continuing to build something meaningful. This operation stands as proof that with integrity, discipline, and time, a first-generation program can create lasting value.
This isn’t just a business.
It’s the result of years of belief, hard work, and responsibility to the people who put these genetics to work.
